As the genocidal war on Gaza enters its second year, countries continue to express their condemnation of the Zionist aggression and support for Gaza. The most recent stance came yesterday, Friday, when the government of Nicaragua announced the severing of diplomatic relations with the occupying entity in response to the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people.

Rosario Murillo, the Vice President of Nicaragua, stated: “Our country has decided to cut diplomatic relations with ‘Israel,’ describing the Israeli government as ‘fascist’ and accusing it of committing genocide.”

The Nicaraguan government, in a statement, explained that the decision to sever relations was due to the continued Israeli attacks on Palestinian territories, noting that the conflict has now spread to Lebanon and poses a serious threat to Syria, Yemen, and Iran.

That the Nicaraguan Congress passed a resolution on Friday, calling on the government to take actions in line with the one-year anniversary of Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Notably, Nicaragua had previously requested to join the genocide case filed by South Africa against the occupying entity on January 23rd of this year
