Amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the water crisis emerges as one of the most acute aspects of suffering. The occupying entity follows a systematic policy of deprivation to subjugate the will of our Palestinian people, as the residents of the Strip suffer from severe water shortages, both for drinking and daily use, threatening an unprecedented disaster.

The UN rapporteur on safe drinking water and sanitation, Pedro Arrojo Agudo, stated that each person in Gaza receives only about 4.7 liters of water per day، The average water consumption per person in the world ranges from 15 to 20 liters per day (including drinking water and daily use), according to international standards.

Agudo added in a press statement that “Israel” prevents the entry of about 70% of the materials necessary for water purification in Gaza.

He confirmed that water pollution in Gaza is a “silent bomb whose impact is greater than that which destroys buildings.”

Since the onset of the war on Gaza, the occupying entity has rendered approximately 203 groundwater wells out of a total of 319 in the Gaza Strip non-operational due to complete or partial destruction or inaccessibility. Additionally, around 33 water tanks, out of a total of 50 main tanks in the Strip, have been destroyed, along with over 500 water points.

This systematic policy, whether through deprivation of water or starvation, has led to health and living disasters unimaginable to the human mind. Nevertheless, despite all these tragedies and suffering, Gaza remains a symbol of resilience and a story of hope that will prevail sooner or later.
