In a dangerous development that reflects the colonial mentality of the occupation, the usurping entity has resorted to using “booby-trapped robots” as a lethal weapon to destroy residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the north. These vehicles, converted from civilian or armored machinery into instruments of mass killing, are loaded with up to five tons of explosives and then driven toward residential areas and detonated, wiping out vast swaths of neighborhoods and forcing residents into mass displacement.
The detonation of a single robot is enough to level an entire neighborhood, as these machines carry enormous quantities of explosives that leave behind widespread destruction and a terrifying roar echoing throughout the Strip. Human rights organizations have described this brutal tactic as a form of systematic genocide, targeting Palestinian land and identity before targeting lives and property.
The aim goes beyond physical destruction, as the occupation seeks through these methods to impose large-scale displacement. Thousands of Palestinian families have been forced to abandon their homes under the terror of these explosions, as part of a comprehensive policy built on siege, starvation, and intimidation—a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian laws.
This approach aligns with a broader campaign of destruction that has devastated residential neighborhoods, civilian institutions, and even historic buildings in Gaza. According to United Nations reports, the occupation has destroyed between 60% and 70% of homes in the Strip, while the destruction rate in northern Gaza has reached around 84%. The toll of the aggression has exceeded 63,000 martyrs, including more than 15,000 children, in addition to over 160,000 wounded.
Despite these crimes, the international stance remains incapable of compelling the usurping entity to stop the war, while the United States continues to shield the occupation politically and militarily. All members of the UN Security Council—permanent and non-permanent alike—have called for an immediate ceasefire, the entry of aid, and the prevention of further military escalation, with the United States standing as the sole opponent.
The question remains: how long will the international community continue to watch the genocide of a defenseless people, and how long will Palestinians be left alone to face the machinery of death that targets their existence, their land, and their cause?
