On Wednesday, 14 out of the 15 members of the UN Security Council issued a joint statement holding the usurping entity directly responsible for the worsening famine in the Gaza Strip, stressing that what is taking place is a man-made crisis, not the result of natural circumstances.
The member states underscored that using starvation as a weapon of war constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, calling for an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire, as well as unrestricted access for humanitarian aid.
The United States opposed the statement, standing alone against the international consensus within the Security Council— a move reflecting its continued provision of political and military cover for the usurping entity.
The usurping entity had notably demanded the withdrawal of the report issued by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) system, which confirmed that Gaza City and its surroundings had officially entered the famine stage, warning that it is expected to expand to affect larger numbers of the population in the coming months, with more than half a million people already in a state of severe hunger.
