Thirty-three Jewish cemeteries in settlements and 40% of settlers’ graves have been built on private Palestinian land, the Ha’aretz daily reported on Sunday.

A survey conducted by the left-wing Kerem Navot organization said that nearly 600 Jewish graves in more than 10 settlements had been built on private Palestinian land, including land confiscated by the “Israeli” authorities.

According to the study, there are in the West Bank at least 33 Jewish cemeteries scattered throughout the settlements, some of them are very small and some are major, where hundreds are buried. Besides, two main graveyards were built in Al-Khalil (Hebron) and Kfar Etzion on land purchased by Jews before 1948.

The graves that were built on private Palestinian land are located near the settlements of Beit El, Ofra, Pisgut, Ma’aleh Mishmash, Alon Moreh and Kiryat Arba.

According to the study, the grave of Rabbi “Raziel Shivah”, who was shot and killed in early January near Nablus, was built on disputed land near the settlement outpost of “Havat Gilad”, where he lived. The report added that some of those graves were built on land that was confiscated under security pretexts, the newspaper said.

It is noteworthy that the so-called “civil administration” of the occupation authorities refused to give any statement about whether they had given licenses to build those graves on private Palestinian land.
