In light of the ongoing genocide against Gaza and Lebanon, which reveals new level of media bias and disinformation, we find ourselves facing a complex scenario where the suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples is intertwined with waves of misleading media, aimed at distorting the image and concealing the suffering.
Since the beginning of this war, the face of biased media has become increasingly clear, showing an unambiguous alignment against the victims and their suffering, turning into a tool serving agendas that have no connection to truth or justice.
In this context, the call from the Global Campaign toReturn to Palestine emphasizes the need to confront this media disinformation, urging the world’s free people to work toward spreading the truth and restoring justice.
From this standpoint, the Palestinian Communication Network, in cooperation with members of the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine in Berlin, issued an open letter to some German politicians and media figures, urging them to refrain from spreading lies and inciting against the Palestinian people. The letter stated: “Shame on you… Do not lie or incite against the Palestinian people.”
The letter, which is strong rejection of the anti-Palestinian media campaign, carried a call for adherence to professional values and solidarity with the Palestinian people in their ordeal. It emphasized that the recent media incitement witnessed in Germany threatens to sow hatred and undermine bridges between peoples, pointing out that the politicians and media figures contributing to this campaign are nothing but mouthpieces for malicious accusations and deliberate distortion.
In line with the call launched by GCRP, campaign members in New Zealand, in collaboration with the Palestinian Action Group, continued organizing events and solidarity rallies to challenge the misleading Zionist narrative and promote the correct Palestinian narrative.
Abdullah Goudah, member of GCRP in New Zealand, pointed out that these activities include articles, television interviews, as well as legal and diplomatic actions aimed at raising awareness about the Palestinian cause and combating the media disinformation targeting it.
These efforts are just part of a larger initiative aimed at confronting what has come to be known as “biased media,” which distorts the facts and misrepresents the Palestinian reality, clearly showing how media can be used as a tool by political regimes seeking to justify occupation and aggression, completely ignoring the suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
The call issued by the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine to confront biased media urges all of us to become more aware of the crucial role of media in shaping public opinion and to work towards encouraging independent and professional media to deliver the truth, especially in a time when media disinformation has become a tool for distorting facts and falsifying reality.
