In a bold step to address human rights violations by the usurping entity, pro-Palestinian activists launched global campaigns to prevent the usurping entity from participating in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. This campaign comes against the backdrop of the genocidal war that the usurping entity has been waging against the Gaza Strip since last October 7.

Through social media platforms, activists launched hashtags in Arabic and English, such as “Boycott Israel Genocide” and “BanIsraelFromParisOlympics,” in an attempt to pressure the Olympic organizers to exclude the usurping entity’s athletes from participating. The activists considered that the celebration of the humanitarian values of the Olympics strongly contradicts the oppressive and genocidal practices of the usurping entity against the Palestinians, noting that it is not possible to celebrate humanitarian values while human rights are brutally violated.

In this context, European countries, such as France and Switzerland, witnessed demonstrations in front of the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, where demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and banners condemning genocide and demanding the exclusion of the delegation of the usurping entity from the Olympic Games. The French leftist MP, Thoma Porte, also joined the calls to prevent the usurping entity’s athletes from participating, calling for mobilizing efforts for this purpose.

In a related context, the Palestinian Football Association submitted a request to exclude the entity’s association from the Olympic Games, but the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the postponement of consideration of the request until next August 31. It should be noted that FIFA had previously suspended the participation of countries such as South Africa, Yugoslavia and Russia due to human rights violations.

The Summer Olympics will be held in Paris between July 26 and August 11, and activists are looking forward to their campaign achieving the desired goal of preventing the usurping entity’s participation.

The Palestinian Football Association had announced, in a previous statement, the martyrdom of 342 athletes, 240 martyrs in football, including 67 children and 173 youth, 33 martyrs from the Scout Movement, and 69 martyrs from sports federations. The usurping entity also destroyed 42 sports facilities in the Gaza Strip.
