On Saturday evening, the “Global Campaign to Return to Palestine” organized a cinematic screening of the documentary film “Iraqis and Palestine” in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, under the official sponsorship of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, and in the presence of official and popular Iraqis, and Palestinian national figures, in addition to a large media presence, local, Palestinian, and international.

 

The film Iraqis and Palestine, produced by the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, is the first documentary of its kind that covers the participation of the people of Iraq, soldiers of the army and volunteers, in the battle to defend Palestine.

 

The performance began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of the Palestinian and Iraqi martyrs who were martyred defending Palestine.

 

The speech of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mr. Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, was delivered by his advisor, Dr. Arif Al-Saadi, who stressed “the Prime Minister’s support for this important work that documents the history of pure blood, the blood of Iraqis, that was mixed with the blood of their brothers in Palestine in defense of Palestine.”

He added that this stage “explained to us how our fathers and grandfathers had crossed the plains and deserts with their tanks in defense of the villages of Palestine, which were subjected to the greatest oppression in this era.”

The speech of the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine was presented by Mr. Muhammad Adeeb Yasirji, during which he explained that the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine “completed the film to remind us of these bright pages of Iraq’s giving, which confirm that the participation of the Iraqi army, civilian volunteers, Iraqi tribes, religious scholars, and journalists, Poets and intellectuals engaged in military, political, and cultural strive in Palestine, dating back more than a century ago and still continuing to this day.”

He also pointed out that the official presentation of the film is of great importance, as it “coincides with the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood and a set of facts that give it additional significance.”

After that, Mr. Suhail al-Hindi, a Palestinian national figure, gave a speech of thanks on behalf of the Palestinian people to Iraq and its people who defend Palestine, support Gaza, and sacrifice their lives for Palestine. He also thanked the GCRP and the government and people of Iraq for sponsoring this film.

At the end of the screening, the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine presented an award of honor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, the son of Commander Omar Ali, who was the commander of the Iraqi battalion in Jenin in 1948. Then the film was shown in the presence of personalities from several countries, notables, Iraqi tribal chiefs, and a number of intellectuals and media representatives.
