In the heart of Palestine, the blessed land that witnessed the birth of civilizations and the convergence of religions, there is hardly a place that is devoid of the imprint of pain and suffering, from its river to its sea, because of this illegitimate entity..

The hand of treachery has reached every corner of the country, not only through the usurpation of the land, the shedding of blood, and the destruction of all living things in it, but also through cowardly attempts to obliterate its cultural and religious identity, an identity that is mixed with the fragrance of history and the authenticity of Islamic civilization. Mosques and churches, which are symbols that preserve the highest meanings of faith and jihad, have today become targets of the occupation that is not satisfied with displacement and destruction, but also seeks to erase the memory of the nation and strip it of its historical landmarks.

At the forefront of these religious landmarks stands the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron, a witness to a long historical conflict between the owners of the land and the occupation. This mosque, built in the name of the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, was and still is a symbol of holiness and history. However, it has become a major target for aggressive practices through which the occupation seeks to Judaize it, change its features and obliterate its identity.

One of the most notable violations was the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre in 1994, when settler Baruch Goldstein killed thirty Palestinians during prayer. After the massacre, the occupation forces turned the mosque into a military barracks and imposed restrictions on visitors. The mosque was also divided into two parts; one for the usurping settlers and the other for Muslims, with the section designated for Muslims closed at night.

In this context, new statements were issued by the Likud Knesset member in the occupation, Avichai Bofaro, in which he called for the confiscation of the Ibrahimi Mosque, controlling it, and placing it completely under the sovereignty of the occupation by canceling what is related to Palestinian sovereignty over it in the Oslo Accords.

The Endowments confirmed in a statement, “These statements come within the framework of the dangerous systematic policy of the occupation government, which is working seriously to seize this Islamic holy place, which is internationally recognized as an Islamic endowment owned by the Palestinian people.

The Endowments called on international human rights and UN institutions concerned with world heritage, such as UNESCO, which considers the Ibrahimi Mosque to be on the World Heritage List, and the Palestinian people in the Hebron Governorate and other governorates of the homeland, to stand firmly against the implementation of these plans that threaten the identity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, and to affirm Palestinian sovereignty over it, by increasing presence there, and standing as a solid barrier in the face of this unjust occupation.

It is worth noting that a few months ago, the occupation issued a decision to roof the Ibrahimi Mosque courtyard with iron and cement sheets, which led to a great deal of rejection by Palestinian people of this decision, as they confirmed that this is a major violation of the sanctity and Islamic characteristic of this pure and holy place, and that the plan to Judaize the holy Ibrahimi Mosque will not be implemented by the usurping entity. As a result of this pressure and complete rejection, the entity backed down from its aggression.

What is happening in this holy place is just one link in a long chain of attacks on land, honor, and holy sites, and a persistent attempt to turn history into a mere faded memory. But Palestine, with its land, its steadfast people, and its holy icons, will remain steadfast and tell its story no matter how long it takes, and no one will be able to erase it.
