Long ago, in the absence of the social media tools we usetoday, the world was largely closed off from itself. The truth was held in the grip of biased and dominant media, making it difficult for the people of the West to see what was happening in distant parts of the world, especially in Palestine. Often, the image of Palestine was distorted by media outlets promoting the Israeli occupation narrative, while ignoring the suffering of the Palestinian people.

However, with the advent of social media, the world began to witness an unprecedented shift in how news and information were shared. Images and videos spread likelightning fast, and words circulated without restrictions. As these new media platforms emerged, many in the West began to awaken to the reality of what was happening in Palestine, and opinions slowly started to change.

In the midst of this transformation, “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation marked a turning point in Western awareness of the Palestinian cause. The brutal crimes committed by the occupying power against innocent civilians revealed its true face and exposed the false narrative that Western media had promoted for decades.

The photos and videos that spread on social media left no room for doubt or ambiguity. Eyes opened to the atrocities that could no longer be ignored, and Western voices that had previously been silent or in denial began to transform into loud cries of condemnation and rejection of these crimes.

The Western world, which some had believed was detached from the reality of Palestine, revealed another side to its humanity. Despite the media’s control over the course of events and public opinion, this flood of truth shattered those barriers and exposed the hidden realities behind misleading headlines.

Since October 7, 2023, with the launch of “Al-Aqsa Flood,” we have seen a significant shift in Western attitudes toward the occupying entity, especially through global boycott campaigns, the recognition of Palestine by some countries, and worldwide popular movements against the occupation.

Today, as we mark the 400th day of the brutal war on Gaza, the machine of death and destruction continues to consume more innocent Palestinian lives, while the world witnesses a noticeable change in its awareness of this ongoing massacre.

In this context, we can understand the events that unfolded in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, in response to the racist provocations by the Israelisports team. This incident was not merely a sports altercation, but rather a reflection of the larger conflict surrounding the Palestinian cause. The reactions in the streets were an expression of solidarity with Palestine, reflecting the shift in public consciousness we’ve discussed. People in Europe are increasingly recognizing the reality of what is happening in Gaza, and their positions are becoming clearer in support of just causes, especially the Palestinian cause, after over 400 days of the Usurping Entity’s aggression. Meanwhile, the genocide against the people of Gaza and Lebanon continues, with the world’s powers watching in silence.
