October 26 marks the National Day of Palestinian Woman, and according to the Palestinian Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs Authority, the number of female detainees since 1967 has reached 17,000.
The commission stated that during the last two years, the largest rate of arrests among women was from the Jerusalem governorate, at a rate 45%. They pointed out that only 17 female detainees were sentenced to prison terms, the highest of which is the ruling of the two detainees, Shurooq Dwaiyat and Shatila Abu Ayyad (16 years), and the two female detainees, Aisha Al-Afghani and Maysoon Al-Jabali (15 years).
In addition, to the minor detainee (less than 18 years old), Nofooz Hammad from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the city Occupied Jerusalem. There are 6 wounded detainees, who are in need of medical treatment. The most dangerous of whom is the case of the detainee Esraa Jaabis from Jerusalem, who is sentenced to 11 years and is among the most dangerous cases in terms of severe pain.
There are also two female detainees who dies as martyrs during their detention inside the prisons of the usurping entity, namely the detainee Saadia Farajallah from the town of Idna, west of Hebron, who rose as a martyr during the month of July of this year, after she was subjected to the crime of medical negligence during her detention in the Damoun detention center, and the detainee Fatima Taqaqata from Beit Lahem, who was arrested after being shot by the usurping entity, and died in May 2017 in the Israeli Shaare Zedek Hospital.
